The Summer season falls between March and May. The incidence of the southwest monsoon from June to September in the various districs depends on local topography and its relation to the Western Ghats and its gaps. Tamil Nadu gets the full benefit of the northeast monsoon from October to December. It is a blend of depressions, storms and cyclones. The excessive rainfall during this monsoon very often causes floods in the palms. It is best not to visit the State during the monsoon season. The winter is only a name, being just a little cooler than usual.
